I have wanted to do this DIY for so long, but finding a candlestick holder was hard!
Turns out, Ikea has so many different kinds.
What you need is a candlestick holder, a plate and some type of epoxy glue.
I left the glue up to my boyfriend, and he picked out Perma Poxy, which is used on cars - so it's really strong! You can buy it at Canadian Tire, or any hardware type stores!
Here is the plate I used.
Make sure the surfaces are clean. Wash and remove any stickers or tags from the plate and the candlestick holder.
Now, follow the instructions on the glue. Mine required me to mix it together first. Wasn't too complicated though! PS it smells horrible - like a nail salon but worse.
Spread an even amount around the top of the candlestick holder, on the edges that will touch the bottom of the plate.
I didn't realise how out of focus this picture was - because you need to do it quite quickly, but you can see enough I think.
I attached the candlestick holder and plate together upside down. This way I could see if I was placing the candlestick holder in the centre.
Wipe off any excess glue that squeezes out the sides. Do this with a tissue or something - not your bare hand!
I left it this way for about 5 minutes, and then turned it over to finish drying.
The back of my glue suggests 4 hours before using - my boyfriend said 24 hours to be safe!
Can't wait to use my new cake stand!
