Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are one of my favourite - partly because you get to decorate them, and they taste delicious!
I found this recipe on Martha Stewart's website.

2 cups of all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
½ cup of butter
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

*Sprinkles, icing sugar for decorating (optional)

Preheat the oven to 325°F
Beat together the softened butter, and granulated sugar. Add in the egg and the vanilla extract.

Add in the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix it all together, and then roll out 1/8 inch thick. It is recommended you refrigerate before, to make the dough firmer. Cut with cookies cutters.

Cook for 10-12 minutes, the edges should be a little bit golden, do not over cook!

Cool completely before icing. You can spread icing on with a knife, or use an icing bag.
