Chocolate Turtles Cake

Chocolates Turtles Cake

For my boyfriends birthday, I knew I had to make him a cake (because I'm a baker and blogger - how could I not!), but he is really picky, even with cakes!
After figuring out he loves chocolate and caramel, I knew I had to make something along those lines.
This cake was delicious and easy.

You can obviously make it with a chocolate cake recipe, but I have been running around, crazy busy.
Simple recipe, and someone who doesn't like chocolate (how...!?!) even said he loved this because the icing and topping was great!

  • Chocolate Cake Box Mix
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • Chopped Pecans
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar

Make the box cake as directed on the box.
Bake in two 9" cake pans.
Cool completely.

Prepare the icing.
In a small pot on low heat, melt the butter and add the brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk.
Heat until sugar is completely combined and melted into a consistent mixture.
Remove from heat.
In a medium size bowl, add the butter mixture, and add in vanilla.
Slowly add icing sugar while mixing with an electric mixer on medium, until all icing sugar has been added.
Add the additional 1 tablespoon of milk until the icing is a good spreading consistency, not to thick and not too liquid (it will just run right off the cake)
Place one of the cakes on a place, and cover the top with an even amount of icing.
Drizzle chocolate and caramel sauce on top of the icing.
Place the last cake on top of the cake that was just iced.
Spread icing on to the top tier of the cake, evenly, and as smooth as possible.
Only spread the icing on the top of the cake, and not the sides.
Drizzle chocolate sauce and caramel sauce over the top of the cake.
Top with pecan pieces.
